
Basic Function: Toorganize and support 4-hour workshops on computer basics, done by Kramden Institute. Manage the recruitment, orientation, training, ongoing support, and retention of tutors and adult learners in basic computer skills classes and computer clubs. Â
Responsibilities of the Program Coordinator include:
- Conducting site visits to determine location for computer workshops
- Assisting lead instructor during 4-hour computer workshops
- Recruiting adults and providing reminders for workshops
- Organizing and coordinating training elements for workshops, such as food, child care, handouts, and equipment.
- Recruiting, training, and providing ongoing support to volunteer tutors and learners
- Providing guidance to tutors regarding best practice in computer literacy
- Determining adult learner/volunteer matches for tutoring services in follow-up to workshop
- Maintaining adult literacy library of instructional materials, to include ordering
- Entering and maintaining tutor and learner-related data in program database
- Producing monthly tracking reports
- Communicating on a regular basis with tutors and learners.
- Organizing basic computer skills classes
- Coordinate computer club (drop-in lab) in office and remotely.
- Developing and conducting tutor-and learner-related surveys
Commitment: Part-time (20 hours/week). Hours worked in the Siler City office, with some travel to meetings and community events/outreach. Regular hours will be worked between 9 am – 5:30 pm with occasional evening and weekend hours.
Qualifications: Associate degree with experience in coordination of volunteers and/or clients, the field of adult literacy, computer/digital literacy, and/or community outreach. Must have computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Docs. Must possess an attention to detail, an ability to work as part of a team and independently, and good organizational, writing, and communication skills. Must be bilingual Spanish/English.
