
Leslee Bennett Shell is currently a Chatham Literacy Tutor and is a former Laubach Literacy Tutor. She was a public library director in Colorado and a tenured Health Sciences librarian at Arizona State University. In Colorado, she started “Motheread/ Fatheread” programs in the Southern Ute Detention Center and in the library (Family Reading Circles). She has served on the Fearrington HOA board and Mission and Service Committee of Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church.
Leslee Shell grew up on a farm and ranch in Oklahoma. She did post-graduate work in Glasgow, Scotland through a Rotary Graduate Fellowship. She is currently a Chatham Literacy Tutor at O’Mara Landscaping. A former academic, medical and public librarian, Leslee held tenured positions at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) and Arizona State University. She has been a public library director in Colorado. As part of the Dean’s staff at UNMC, Leslee visited 80 communities in Nebraska with hospitals and worked to implement a Rural Health Opportunities Program to recruit more primary care physicians for rural Nebraska. She has served on the Fearrington HOA board and Mission and Service Committee of Chapel in the Pines Presbyterian Church.
