About the artist

Kara McSpaddenKara McSpadden is no stranger to self-expression through the arts, having grown up in a city with “an enormous art scene.” “One of my first memories growing up in Detroit is the Heidelberg Project houses,” she said. “I thought they were the coolest thing in the world back then.”

Kara, who lives and works in Chatham County, is passionate about art and psychology and has found a way to combine the two subjects as a student at Guilford College. “My plan,” she said,”is to use art as a way to help children and adolescents find a way to express things that are otherwise inexpressible.”
