New Scrabble Event on June 16

“EXCITED” is the seven letter word to describe Chatham Literacy Council’s new fundraiser! That could be your first winning word at the First Annual “Play Scrabble® for Literacy” event on June 16th, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.

Anyone age 16 and older can test wits and just have fun at this event to be held at the Chatham County Agricultural and Convention Center at 1192-US-64 Business in Pittsboro.

The evening, with emcee Pam Smith, includes playing Scrabble® as an individual or as part of a team, cheering on your favorite player(s) if that is more your thing, buffet dinner, music, bucket raffle, and prizes. (Click to open the list of the prizes, then press the back button to return.)

Chatham Literacy Council’s Executive Director Vicki Newell says this fundraising event is an appropriate game for this nonprofit. “We thought a Scrabble® fundraiser would be a challenging and fun way to highlight the benefits of literacy and education. Proceeds from this event will help our organization to tutor more adults in Chatham County.

Dinner and raffle ticket purchases occur from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Cost of this FUNdraising event is $30 per game player and $20 for non-players. Registration for the event begins on April 20 and should be made before June 9th atwww.chathamliteracy.org, or by mail to Chatham Literacy at PO Box 1696, Pittsboro, NC 27312. You can also purchase bucket raffle tickets or Scrabble® mulligans the night of the event.

Chatham Literacy Council helps adults living or working in Chatham County acquire the literacy and educational skills they need to function successfully in society. All proceeds from this and other fundraisers directly fund Chatham Literacy’s free one-on-one and small-group instruction.

Donations and fundraising efforts help Chatham Literacy support an increasing number of adults to read to their children, talk with their healthcare providers, obtain employment, improve their job performance, and/or become U.S. citizens.
