“Dazzling” Debut Novelist Headlines Chatham Literacy’s Spring 2025 Fundraiser

Award-winning author, teacher, mentor, and popular speaker Marjorie Hudson discusses her stunning debut novel Indigo Field at Chatham Literacy’s Spring for Literacy Luncheon at Governors Club on Thursday, May 15th from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.
Hudson is the recipient of two Pushcart Special Mentions, a PEN/Hemingway honorable mention, and a North Carolina Arts Council Notable Book acknowledgment.
Described as “mesmerizing,” Hudson’s first novel is acclaimed as a must-read book with writing that is “as deeply layered as that of Pat Conroy.” Winner of numerous awards and fellowships, Hudson has published stories, essays, and poems in many anthologies, magazines, and journals where her work often “explores links between history, the human spirit, and the natural world.”
Hudson says Indigo Field is a novel she has been writing for 20 years and was ignited when noticing a simple, yet electrifying event in her life. She will discuss her debut novel and her process of “falling in love with the South – and, as a writer – seeing it in a clear-eyed way.”
Growing up in the North, Hudson says living in Chatham County for 30 years has stirred her soul and is “her muse,” helping her thrive as she teaches, writes, lectures and excels in building community.
Ticket sales start March 1st and are $125.00. Complete the registration form below or call 919-742-0578. Proceeds will benefit Chatham Literacy services.
