A Holiday Gift Of Literacy

2025 Chatham Literacy Thanksgiving Reading Challenge

As we head into the season of gratitude, we’re reminded every day of just how powerful the gift of literacy truly is. At Chatham Literacy, we get to see lives change through learning — parents reading confidently to their children, neighbors gaining new job skills, and community members finding their voice through English, digital skills, and citizenship preparation. These moments remind us how lucky we are to be part of a community that believes in opportunity for all.

This time of year also invites us to reflect on the stories that shaped us. We’d love to hear from you:
What’s a book that changed your life — or simply brought you joy?

Whether it was a childhood favorite or something you read last month, your story might inspire someone else to pick up a new book or begin their own learning journey.

Below we present a selection of books we love here at Chatham Literacy:

If you’re feeling thankful for the role literacy has played in your life, we hope you’ll consider sharing that gift with an adult learner who’s working hard to build new skills and open new doors. Your support helps create pathways to opportunity for learners across Chatham County, and we’re truly grateful for every person who stands with us.

From all of us at Chatham Literacy: thank you for believing in the power of words, stories, and learning. May your holiday season be filled with good books, good company, and moments that remind you of how much we can achieve when we learn together.
