Chatham Literacy helps adults, living or working in Chatham County, acquire the literacy and educational skills they need to function successfully in society. Chatham Literacy’s operations are entirely dependent on grants, donations, public events and related business sponsorships. Without partners like you, we cannot accomplish our mission.
Each year Chatham Literacy conducts four fundraising events: 1) Literacy Swings in Siler City (March); 2)   Spring for Literacy Luncheon in North Chatham (April); 3) Literacy Luncheon in Siler City (September); 4) Literacy Swings in Pittsboro (October). All proceeds from these events directly fund Chatham Literacy’s free one-on-one and small-group instruction. With your support, an increasing number of adults will be able to read to their children, talk with their health care providers, obtain employment, improve their job performance, and/or become U.S. citizens.

Literacy Swings fundraisers feature big band jazz orchestras for your dancing and listening pleasure. These events typically attract over 100 patrons. For a $20 donation, the public is invited to join in the fun and dance the night away to the fabulous sounds of a 20-piece orchestra. Food and drink are extra.
Literacy Luncheon fundraisers feature leading published authors who speak following a catered sit-down luncheon served at a local upscale venue. Typically 200 community leaders, donors, and volunteers attend these events. For a $100 donation, the public is invited to join in a delicious lunch and author presentation.
