Student of the Month

miguelMiguel Anguiano Gonzalez became a U.S. citizen this year after completing a Chatham Literacy citizenship class in Siler City.

Miguel is originally from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and works now in the Sanitation Department at Mountaire Farms. Miguel, the father of a 15-year-old son, says he likes his job but hopes to work into a better shift time.

After reaching his citizenship milestone, Miguel decided to enroll in an English class to continue his learning. On the day he was scheduled for the class orientation, he had to leave work late. But that didn’t keep him from achieving his goal. He contacted Student Coordinator Loyda Estrada, adjusted his schedule, and managed to complete his class orientation on the appointed day.

Thanks to those of you who have donated to Chatham Literacy this holiday season. It is because of contributions like yours that dedicated students like Miguel can realize their goals and dreams. If you have not given, it’s not too late. Please consider making a year-end donation to Chatham Literacy this holiday season. The gift of literacy is the gift that keeps on giving.

Thank you.
